Amount of ‘Sadqa-e-Fitr’ (Fitrana) for 2009

Paying ‘Fitrana’ is as an act of thankfulness towards the Allah Almighty for having enabled Muslims to observe the fasts of Ramazan-ul-Mubarak and also purifies them from any shortcomings during the month.

This year, the amount of ‘Sadqa-e-Fitr’ (Fitrana) to be paid to the needy before Eid-ul-Fitr has been fixed at Rs80 per member of the family, Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Chairman Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said on Thursday.

“According to the market price of 2.25 kilograms flour, the amount for fitrana this year had been calculated at Rs80,” he told APP. The Chairman urged the people to pay the amount to the poor before Eid so that deserving people could also celebrate the festival.
